Fees
How fees work
How paying for therapy at Quell works, in the order people tend to ask.
Insurance we work with
Quell is an out-of-network practice, so we do not bill your insurance company. That includes Medicare and Medicaid. Some plans repay part of the cost of out-of-network visits; your plan decides whether it does and how much.
Some PPO and POS plans reimburse out-of-network visits
Health savings and flexible spending cards are accepted
If you pay yourself
You pay at the end of each session. Your fee is given to you in writing before you start, and it stays the same unless we tell you ahead of time. A limited number of reduced-fee places may be open, so ask when you write. Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session; a later cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for that session. We do not charge for a session missed because of a birth, a hospital stay or a sick baby.
Receipts for reimbursement
At the end of each month we can send you an itemized receipt, called a superbill, to submit to your plan if you want to ask for reimbursement. It lists a diagnosis code, and your plan will see it. Whether your plan pays is its decision, and we cannot promise it will.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost before you start. We give you a written estimate before your first session. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that comes in $400 or more above it.
Checking your benefits
Because we are out of network, we do not check your benefits for you. Before your first session, call your plan and ask whether it reimburses out-of-network outpatient mental health care, what your deductible is and what share it pays.
Your fee is given to you in writing before your first session.
